My new oil paintings are an expression of
my lifelong artistic journey. This work
represents an evolution of my intense observation of the
botanical shapes that have captivated my attention for many
years. While the imagery in these
paintings is both sensuous and whimsical, the most prevalent shape is
that of the Araceae Arum or Arrowhead. It is this shape that is
repeated
through out the paintings like a musical fugue. Because I work while listening
to music, such as Chopin’s Nocturnes or Ravel’s Symphonies, the
paintings possess a sense of rhythm that is created in tandem with the musical
score.
